The reading group has been a wonderful feature of Hope Church life over several years, and, after a break, some of us are really keen to get it up and running again. So, we’ll take four dates in July to give everyone a taster of the reading group. Who knows, if you like it, and if you can fit it in, you might want to join the group again after the summer break.
What is the Reading Group?
Quite simply, the group is a weekly gathering of Hope church folks in term-time who meet to encourage each other in reading good Christian books which will develop our understanding and discipleship, and to grow in our relationships with one another, as we learn from great books together. The group’s open to absolutely everyone at Hope.
How does the Group work?
We read the assigned passage of our book before each meeting (that is a commitment of approx. 45-60 mins reading each week outside meeting time).
The hour meeting consists of a guided discussion of the pages we’ve read. All are encouraged to contribute in the discussion, but if some are happy just to listen, then that’s fine.
We get onto zoom so as to be ready to start our meeting promptly at 12.30 (details of the zoom meeting will have been sent out in advance). At 1.30pm the meeting closes after a brief prayer.
Fancy giving it a go?
